PROGRAM:

FLOYD GARROTT introduced fellow Rotarian, JIM BODENMILLER, whose topic was "Arts in Action", a progress report on implementation of the 2008 Cultural Plan. He explained the involvement of the three major granting organizations; The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC), and Tippecanoe Arts Federation (TAF). A task force was formed in 2005 to create a strategic plan through the "arts and culture" lens. He reviewed the four goals and the strategies to implement each goal. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

"A positive business climate with tax incentives for job creation, a work force of qualified, highly educated individuals, and a multitude of arts and cultural attractions are all essential elements to Indiana's economic development. We must make these goals priorities as we consider the next biennial budget."
