    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ DAVID BRIDGES introduced three Rotaract members who were our guests today. They reported on their activities this fall. After a slow start, the club is growing and planning exciting events.

♦ Don't forget. Next week we will meet on Thursday, not Tuesday. This is the meeting with Purdue Basketball coaches hosted by Kiwanis.

♦ Backpackers are needed on Thursdays!!! If you can help, please contact BECKY ROBLEDO.

♦ JAYNE FEATHERS reminded everyone that Applebee's on the west side will reserve the whole restaurant for us on October 16th (Purdue Homecoming) from 8 - 10 a.m. Our job is to sell tickets for $10 each ($5 of which will go to our club for Polio Eradication) for a pancake breakfast with all the trimmings. Office mates, friends and relatives are all possible customers. Or purchase them for any number of charities. Everyone needs a good breakfast!

♦ LETA KELLEY announced that she and JACK are hosting a Echre party on October 30th. If you have not played before, don't let that stop you. The fun begins at 6:30 at the KELLEY home. R.S.V.P. to LETA.

♦ JOHN BARRETT announced that $68 worth of raffle tickets were sold today. The winning number belonged to JOHN BARRETT! He asked that another ticket be drawn. This one belonged to BILL LOVELL, who received a free ticket to the pancake breakfast. In the end the Ace of Spades eluded JOHN, but everyone had a good time.

♦ October 24 - World Polio Day. Any contributions of $100 or more to The Rotary Foundation on line during the week prior will receive 2 for 1 recognition points.

    ♦ April 29 & 30, 2011 - District Conference in Carmel, IN.

♦ If you don't want to hear about Every Rotarian Every Year, please make your donation when you pay your dues and DICK will happily refrain from haranguing us all year.

♦ The open backpack at the attendance table is ready to receive loose change and paper as a fund-raiser for that project.

    JANE'S CORNER:
Highlights from the Club Board Meeting:

♦ JIM KLUSMAN continues to educate and present the board with revised policies. The Treasurer's responsibilities received the focus this month.

♦ The First Quarter results for Every Rotarian Every Year show 26 members gave almost $9,000. It's a good start.

♦ Discussion of fund raising projects include a Harvest Dinner in 2011 and possibly a Trivial Pursuit event. The club will sell ELSA JANLE's jewelry at Christmas and JANE's toffee hearts for Valentine's Day.

♦ Our club nominated BILLL HATFIELD to the Council on Legislation in 2012.

♦ SUSAN SMITH announced that she has accepted a new position in Louisville, KY and will be relocating.
