OCTOBER PROGRAMS
ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ Backpackers are needed on Thursdays!!! If you can help, please contact BECKY ROBLEDO.

♦ SUSAN SMITH reminded everyone that Applebee's on the west side will reserve the whole restaurant for us on October 16th (Purdue Homecoming) from 8 to 10 a.m. Our job is to sell tickets for $10 each ($5 of which will go to our club for Polio Eradication) for a pancake breakfast with all the trimmings. Office mates, friends and relatives are all possible customers. Or purchase them for any number of charities. Everyone needs a good breakfast!

♦ LETA KELLEY announced that she and JACK will host a Euchre party on October 30th. If you have not played before, don't let that stop you. The fun begins at 6:30 at the KELLEY home. R.S.V.P. to LETA.

♦ TERRY WEST announced that $84 worth of raffle tickets were sold today. The winning number belonged to JIM KLUSMAN! Although the Ace of Spades eluded him, he received a free lunch today. Congratulations, JIM!

♦ BOB GRIFFITHS announced that the Nominating Committee of the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation is looking for two board members. If you would like to be considered for the LRCF Board of Directors or you would like to suggest the name of another member of the LRC, please send an email with the appropriate information to BETTY M. NELSON at bmnelson@purdue.edu . The Nominating Committee will begin its work by the end of September. Your suggestions are welcome immediately.

♦ The Rotaract Picnic last Saturday was chilly, but fun. About 20 Rotaract members and several Rotarians gathered for a meal and fellowship. There was plenty of food.

♦ October 2nd - Rotary Workday in the State of Indiana by declaration of Governor Mitch Daniels. We are teaming up with Daybreak, Rotaract and Interact to work on cleaning the trails in the area, since a Rain Garden Project is not possible when there is no rain to loosen the soil for planting. Meet at the University Plaza parking lot at 8:30 Saturday morning to be dispatched in teams. Bring gloves, and any snacks and beverages you might need. This is a low budget operation!

♦ October 24 - World Polio Day

♦ April 29 & 30, 2011 - District Conference in Carmel, IN.

♦ If you don't want to hear about Every Rotarian Every Year, please make your donation when you pay your dues and DICK will happily refrain from haranguing us all year.

♦ The open backpack at the attendance table is ready to receive loose change and paper as a fund-raiser for that project.

♦ BOB HANNEMANN presented a report on the project on missing and exploited children.
