PRESIDENT ELECT TIM LUZADER introduced Morgan Burke, Purdue Athletic Director since 1993. He, in turn, introduced Dave Shondell, head volleyball coach in his 8th season at Purdue. With six of seven starters returning, Coach Shondell is cautiously optimistic about this year. The players want to return to the NCAA Tournament. The fact that the team is not ranked this year provides a great motivational tool for the coach. He believes the team will surprise people and encouraged us to come to a game. There are three matches this weekend.

Burke introduced Danny Hope, head football coach at Purdue. He explained that a talented team disappointed themselves last year. Growth will help the same team this year. Progress is being made in every phase of a master plan to produce championships. The team is smart, hard working, free of complaints and willing to have fun with each other. They paid the price last year to have confidence this year. Opening the season against Notre Dame has created motivation and advanced preparation. The team knows they must take care of the ball. Hope reminded us that attendance at games is important, win or lose. He asked us to support the team.

Burke ended the program by explaining the new marketing strategy. Watch the newspaper and TV to learn the five initiatives which include banners to remind everyone it's football season, a "Meet and Greet" at the Stadium this weekend; Boiler Bridge Walks before every home game and wearing black and gold on Fridays.
