PRESIDENT CHRISTA introduced AWADH DUBEY, senior ophthalmologist from Kanpur, India. He is celebrating 20 years of serving the people of India with the support of our District 6560. Since 1979, Sight on Wheels has provided 5,000 operations in an air-conditioned bus equipped with surgical equipment. Over 22,100 free operations have been performed in clinics. With 12.5 million blind people (the most in the world) in India, there is a never-ending need for the service. Lack of resources, poverty and overpopulation are the primary causes of blindness. The mission is to bring light and life into the lives of millions of blind people. Dr. DUBEY ended his presentation by issuing an invitation to India. There are many opportunities to volunteer.
