Joeri van Hout began the program by sharing a few statistics with us. The Netherlands has a red, white and blue flag, is half the size of Indiana with more than twice the population. There are 7.2 million cars and 18.3 milllion bikes.

Michel Meijers explained that 1/3 of the country is below sea level and, in places, as much as 18 feet below! They love ice-skating in winters when it is cold enough and in the summer there are 150 miles of coastal beaches to enjoy. He also explained the "sea protection" measures used to give them more land.

Martijn Rumpen's description of their public governance included their constitutional monarchy. They have 12 provinces, a parliament and are a sovereign state within Europe. The economy is dependent on trade with other nations. There are 8 million workers (50% of those are part time) putting in 40-hour weeks with 30 days of paid vacation per year.

Evelien van den Boom's section featured the celebrations of their country, which include soccer games, the royal family, Christmas and Carnival.
