PROGRAM:

DICK RAHDERT introduced GREG KAPP, CEO of The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette. GREG began by giving us the mission statement and history of the organization. The community foundation movement began in Cleveland in 1914 because there were several trusts dedicated to caring for the fire department's horses. When fire wagons were mechanized and horses were no longer necessary, the legal work to alter the trusts prompted a new idea. In l970 The Community Foundation was organized in our communities. They have disbursed an average of three quarters of a million Dollars in grants each year. Since 1988 the growth rate has hovered around 8%. GREG described the three corners of the triangle, which makes up the organization: asset development, community leadership and grant making.

STUDENT GUESTS:

JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER, standing in for an ailing BARB REIF, introduced Kaitlin Hainje and Eliot Zak from Central Catholic High School. Each received a certificate and a travel mug with the 4-Way Test to commemorate meeting with us today.
