    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ President CHRISTA KECK reported that she counted at least 42 Rotarians and their guests at Applebee's last night on the West side. Applebee's took in $1,479.00 and we received a check for $221.89. Thank you to all who participated.

♦ From JACQUELINE COONEY, President of Rotaract: "We have decided on the "Bowl for Kids Sake" fundraiser (benefiting Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lafayette) for our Rotary/Rotaract Social. The tournament will be on March 6th in the Purdue Union Rack and Roll Bowling Alley. I think it will be a lot of fun and I know we are all excited to finally meet some Rotarians! As of right now the time is TBA but I will let you know as soon as I find out. There is a parking garage right next to the Union which is free on weekends, and has an underground tunnel which connects directly to the entrance of the bowling alley. The Rotarians may either get five people together or if someone can send me a list of who all is participating I can put together teams. Personally I would prefer if I just got a list of all participating so that I can mix and match teams, that way the Rotarians and Rotaractors can bowl with each other and have time to socialize together." Jacqueline's e-mail address is: rotaract.purdue@gmail.com

♦ More backpack volunteers are needed on Thursdays and Fridays. Sign up on the board in the back of the room or contact CHARLOTTE HOWELLS.

♦ The Rotary International Convention is in Montreal in June. Registration forms are available on the back desk. Montreal is a marvelous city and on this continent. This is an opportunity to experience the wonderful world of Rotary in a few days.

♦ JACK KELLEY will accept donated shoes and glasses until March 16. While in El Salvador, they will check on the Burn Unit.

♦ JACK KELLEY announced that the GSE Team from The Netherlands will be here from the 19th to the 22nd of April. He is expecting the usual outstanding cooperation from club members for technical visits and hosting.

♦ TOM MORAN asked Rotarians to follow-up Backpack solicitations with phone calls to encourage those companies to participate with a monetary donation. Forms, information, instructions are on the back table.

♦ It's time to be thinking about the Vocational Service Award. The Application form accompanies this newsletter and will be available at the back desk next week.

♦ MIKE SIMPSON reported that the high school scholarship deadline is this Saturday, February 27th and asked the committee to meet after next Tuesday's Rotary meeting.

♦ A reminder to those who registered for the COTS meeting on February 27th in Carmel: meet at 7:30 a.m. behind the gas station next to Best Western in Lafayette. JACK KELLEY and ROB GALBRAITH have offered to drive.
