PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT ELECT DICK RAHDERT introduced Kevin Bowditch, Chair of the Tecumseh District of Boy Scouts of America. Kevin is employed as a welding engineer at SIA, but it is clear that scouting is his passion. He described his journey through the programs beginning at age 11; told about canoe trips with his father; shared his disappointment at having to leave the program when he had outgrown it by age. Within seconds of the birth of his son, he knew he was back in scouts again! Since it is the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouts, he showed a short video prepared for the occasion. He then asked Rotarians who had been a Boy Scout to raise a hand. We were all thrilled to see a large majority of men in the room who had a hand in the air! They had recited the pledge with CHIP RUTLEDGE during the invocation, but no one realized the numbers until the hands were raised. Our club's statistics represents similar percentages of astronauts, military academies and congressional members who were involved in Boy Scouts.

GUESTS:

Jane Rutledge, wife of CHIP RUTLEDGE, Bill Horner, guest of BETTY NELSON.
