ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ Help is needed distributing backpacks this Friday. Contact GENE HILLS if you can assist.

♦ The Rotary International Convention is in Montreal in June. Registration forms are available on the back desk. Montreal is a marvelous city and on this continent. This is an opportunity to experience the wonderful world of Rotary in a few days.

♦ CAROL GALBRAITH announced that speech and interview judges are needed for a contest to be held Friday, February 12th.

♦ She also volunteered to chair the local Rotary Speech Contest. It will be the evening of February 23rd. Judges are needed for this event as well. If you can help Carol, please contact her.

♦ JACK KELLEY will accept donated shoes and glasses until spring break.

♦ A Town Hall Meeting on Creating a Satisfactory Retirement will be held on Thursday, February 4th from 9:30 - 11 a.m. in Room 106 of the Morton Community Center in West Lafayette. The meeting will encourage an open dialogue between Purdue researchers and retirees from Purdue and the Greater Lafayette Community about the factors that are most important to a successful retirement. Refreshments will be served.

♦ To celebrate the 105th birthday of Rotary, Applebee's is helping us raise funds to Eradicate Polio by contributing 15% of what we buy on February 22nd. Celebrate with fun, food and fellowship. Give fliers to all of your friends and family. They are good at both Lafayette and West Lafayette Applebee's on the 22nd. Special thanks to JAYNE FEATHERS for making the arrangements.

♦ PRESIDENT CHRISTA announced a Valentines Day fund raiser. Boxes of toffee hearts will be available for $15 with $5 of that as a donation to our Rotary Club to fund youth projects. Order forms must be accompanied by a check or cash. The deadline for ordering is January 22, 2010.

CORRECTION:
Last week's program description should have said that 2,000 meals are prepared daily at Mid-Land Meals.
