ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ PRESIDENT CHRISTA reported final totals for Salvation Army: Kettles: $3,907.96; Checks from 91 members: $8,796.00; Total: $12,703.96. Every Rotarian Every Year: as of December $9,791 with 76 members donating. Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation: contributions in December $12,068 from 112 members.

♦ MIKE SIMPSON, chair of the High School Scholarship committee, called a meeting next Tuesday before our luncheon.

♦ FRITZ COHEN read a letter from the 1993 Ambassadorial Scholar which told what he has been doing in the years since and expressing his appreciation for the experience.

♦ CAROL GALBRAITH announced that speech and interview judges are needed for a contest to be held Friday, February 12th.

♦ She also volunteered to chair the local Rotary Speech Contest. It will be the evening of February 23rd. Judges are needed for this event as well. If you can help Carol, please contact her.

♦ JACK KELLEY will accept donated shoes and glasses until spring break.

♦ LETA KELLEY announced that the next Euchre party is at their home on Saturday, January 16th at 6:00. Bring an appetizer to share. There will be lessons on how to play Euchre, if you would like to learn. She assures us that it is easy and fun.

♦ PRESIDENT CHRISTA announced a Valentines Day fund raiser. Boxes of toffee hearts will be available for $15 with $5 of that as a donation to our Rotary Club to fund youth projects. Order forms will be available at JANE'S desk and must be accompanied by a check or cash. The deadline for ordering is January 22, 2010.

JANE'S CORNER:
Highlights from Monday's Board Meeting:

♦ The Future Vision Plan requires that each club in the District have a Grants Manager. JACK KELLEY was appointed to that position for our club.

♦ Fund raising ideas were discussed. A Valentines Day box of toffee was approved.

♦ JAYNE FEATHERS announced that she turned over the Chair of the Backpack Committee to CHARLOTTE HOWELLS.

♦ PDG BILL BATT will represent our district at the Counsel on Legislation in Chicago this year.

♦ CAROL GALBRAITH will chair the Club's Speech Contest. It was agreed that a $100 prize would be awarded to the winner.
