    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ DICK RAHDERT informed us that the Defense Authorization Act of 2009 now authorizes that veterans can use the hand salute during the playing of the national anthem, instead of placing hands over their hearts.

♦ JAYNE FEATHERS encouraged us to take advantage of special sales on hats and mittens for Christmas backpacks. She also said there had been a serious decline in the number of volunteers. Packers are needed on Thursdays and Distributors on Fridays. Please play your part!

♦ Mark Your Calendar! December 12th is day we will be Ringing the Bell for Salvation Army. The sign up sheet is available. It is a great opportunity to spend two hours getting to know someone in Rotary.

♦ SUZANN SHACKLETON, Attica-Williamsport announced that Rotary will have a booth at the Indianapolis International Festival, State Fairgrounds, November 19 - 22, which will feature health & hunger, literacy, water and polio projects. Please call SUZANN at 426-1052 and let her know if you are interested in "manning" the booth.

♦ CAROL GALBRAITH will be chair this year working with the local Red Cross in supporting 25 local kids with toys and clothing for Christmas. You can donate money or purchase and wrap a gift. Please let CAROL know if you are interested in participating. See sign-up sheet at back of room.

♦ President CHRISTA KECK reminded us to save $1.00 per day to reach the $100.00 goal of Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY). This goes towards your Paul Harris Fellowship, along with receiving a tax credit for the year.

♦ November is International Foundation month. SUSAN HYCHKA spoke of many achievements of The Rotary Foundation. She spoke of the Polio-Plus Eradication campaign and how our EREY donations work towards this goal. "The future of Rotary is in our hands".
