CLUB CONCERNS:

President CHRISTA KECK asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: ROY WHISTLER and FRANCIS PRITSCHER and REX KEPLER.

SPECIAL GUEST:

TERRY WEST introduced Laura Ertmer, outbound Ambassadorial Scholar, who will be going to Bolivia the end of January to study cultural education in the classroom. She thanked us for supporting her and the Ambassadorial Scholars program.

VOCATIONAL FOCUS:

ZARJON BAHA from Kabul, Afghanistan, received his engineering degree at their university. After working for a U.N. agency part time, he received a U.N. scholarship to study agricultural irrigation systems in the U.S. At the same time he was also offered a faculty position at the university. He took the faculty position in order to remain a free and honest citizen of Afghanistan, where government corruption was rampant. He strives to adhere to the 4-Way test, and the first question asks: "Is it the truth?"

PROGRAM:

DICK RAHDERT introduced Rich Rudman, advisory board member and volunteer for Jr. Achievement. The first thing he did was acknowledge JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER, retired president of JA, for her work in growing and improving the program. JA is a world-wide organization educating 8.3 million students in 100 countries. Community leaders Dr. Wm. Sholty, Kirby Risk and Bob Whitsel started the program in Tippecanoe County. Rotarians JIM HOBBS, JIM CARANEY and VIRGIL ST. JOHN played important parts in JA's development.

Rich introduced Amanda Bosma, Program Manager, who prepares materials for the classroom economics educational programs, taught by volunteers. No governmental funds are used to support JA. He encouraged us to volunteer and invite a friend to volunteer with you.

A child can be sponsored for $25 and a whole classroom for $750.
