    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    ♦ Past President ROB GALBRAITH, now chairing the Nominating Committee, asks members to suggest members for the Board of Directors and President Nominee. Please contact ROB with your thoughts.

    ♦ KIM MOTULIAC has indicated the number of specific items still needed for the Christmas Backpacks. Food is accepted every week. Please bring your contribution "early and often"!

    ♦ President KECK announced that a standing committee for Fund Raising is in the formation stage. If you can help, please contact her.

    ♦ Mark Your Calendar! December 12th is day we will be Ringing the Bell for Salvation Army. The sign up sheet will be available soon. It is a great opportunity to spend two hours getting to know someone in Rotary.

    ♦ Don't forget! Next week we meet with Kiwanis on Thursday to hear Purdue's Basketball coaches.

    ♦ The Monticello Rotary Club's annual road rally will be this coming Sunday, October 18th at 1 p.m. starting at Meadowlawn School. Participants are provided a clue sheet and have to find t heir way around the course. Prizes are given for closest to the elapsed time, mileage and questions answered. The route runs 50 - 75 miles in length and passes through scenic countryside. Cost is $25 per person. For more information, call 574-583-5461

    Thank so much for the lovely plant sent to me on behalf of the club. As you are aware I am not one to be cooped in my home as I am always on the go. Since I have to be restricted to my home a lot more during my rehab period it will make my day much more pleasant. We have it on our coffee table in the living and it gives me a cheer every time I look at it. Thanks again.

    Highlights from the October Club Board Meeting:

    ♦ The resignations of AL and MARTHA CHISCON were accepted with regret

    ♦ Letters are going out to corporations requesting funding for BackPack

    ♦ Discussion was opened regarding the possibility of finding an outbound high school exchange student.

    ♦ Gift packages to support Rotary projects will be explored.
