BIRTHDAY TABLE:

DENNIS WIEDENAAR, October Birthday Table Chair, introduced members celebrating a birthday in October and announced that $2,024 has been collected so far for the Foundations. We celebrated by singing Happy Birthday.

PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT CHRISTA introduced DISTRICT GOVERNOR JUDY HOLLANDER, who told us a bit about herself before reviewing Rotary goals: polio eradication, literacy, water, health and hunger. RI President JOHN KENNY says everything begins and ends at the club level. There are 45 clubs in our District with an average membership of 57 and an average attendance of 34. DG JUDY announced that the District Conference is scheduled for May 1st at the Sheraton at Keystone at the Crossing. She redefined R & D for us. The conference is a great place to "rob and duplicate" other club's ideas.
HOLLANDER'S goals are the same as JOHN KENNY'S with one addition. To get from clean water to literacy, people need food. Our District is partnering with Heifer International to add that necessary piece to the formula.
There will be two GSE teams in her term; one from South Korea and another from The Netherlands. We also have outbound teams to those two countries.
A Friendship Exchange has already taken place between District 4170 in Mexico and our district. This is the District that is happy to receive the fire trucks and ambulances we sent them. If you would like to see the impact our District has made on villages there, a tour is planned for February 17 - 21, 2010.
Every Rotarian Every Year is the Rotary slogan to remind all of us that contributions are important to the work of RI. The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands.
