♦ PRESIDENT CHRISTA thanked TOM MORAN and everyone who wrote checks and helped over the weekend to make the Gus Macker Tournament successful. You did your part and the weather did its part!

♦ TOM MORAN thanked those who helped with Gus Macker:

♦ There will be a Family of Rotary committee meeting September 22nd.

♦ The Rotary Foundation (International) has been ranked 2nd of all charitable organizations in terms of best managed. Don't forget to fulfill our Every Rotarian Every Year commitment of $100, knowing it will be well spent.

♦ PRESIDENT CHRISTA announced that a GSE team leader is needed for the group going to The Netherlands. If you are interested, contact CHRISTA or JANE.

♦ Food for the Christmas Backpacks is accepted every week. Please bring your contribution "early and often"!

♦ RENEE MULLEN, chair of the Dog Days of Summer project for the Art Museum, thanked all who were involved and invited everyone to enjoy all the dogs together at 532 Main Street this Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be music, refreshments and raffle tickets. The dogs will be auctioned off on Sunday October 4th.


JANE'S CORNER:
Highlights from the Club Board Meeting:

♦ District Governor Elect SALIM NAJJAR presented the new Pilot Program of The Rotary Foundation Future Vision Plan, to which our district applied and was accepted for participation. The District will have greater control over the distribution of funds for projects.

♦ Matching funds of $2,000 for microscopes to a university in Monrovia, Liberia was approved if the grant is awarded.

♦ The Backpack Committee requests $500 from The Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation. The Club Board moved to make this request on September 16, 2009.

♦ ROB GALBRAITH asked for all members to think of nominations for President Nominee and Club Board members.

♦ Laura Nicolet has resigned and moved to northern Indiana.

And a big thank you to FRED ANDERSON for a two drawer file cabinet to keep our "stuff" neat in the service area of University Plaza.
