CHRISTA KECK introduced Charlie Short, Executive Director of the Community Cancer Network, a two year old not for profit that provides support car4e for cancer patients. After introducing two of his board members, Steve Brewer and FAYE COLE, he said that there are only 20 agencies in the nation like this. Several doctors realized that there was no one to respond to the immediate needs of patients. With a budget of $252,000, CCN partners with eleven agencies to provide one stop shopping for patients referred to them by physicians. Each patient's needs are different, but most need food and many need help with transportation and medications. Charlie and full-time Patient Advocate Melinda Bond will help 400 patients this year.
