CLUB CONCERNS:

VICE PRESIDENT DICK RAHDERT asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, ROY WHISTLER, former Rotarian Bill Pape, and JIM SMITH.

PROGRAM:

BETTY DOVERSBERGER, Senior Director for Service Projects, outlined many ways to become involved. She explained the Signature Projects - Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and the Backpack Program at Miami Elementary School. Click here to review BETTY's points.

BETTY introduced TOM MORAN, chair of the Gus Macker Tournament. In partnership with the Purdue Chapter of Habitat, we hosted 275 teams on two beautiful days. KEVEN JENNINGS, treasurer for the event, presented checks to Doug Taylor (Habitat) and ROB GALBRAITH for $14,595.02 each. TOM then thanked John Basham, Basham Rentals; Malcomb Bartram, Wal-Mart, East; Tom Tamburini, Wal-Mart, South; Brad Cohen, Arnie's; Kevin Bol, F. C. Tucker; Lou Johnson, F. C. Tucker for major contributions. He also thanked all of those who sponsored a team and the "doers", The Purdue Students recruited by Dan Guildenbecher. Dan says Josh Holmes and Kaylea Lipps will replace him next year. He introduced Renee Roames, Purdue Faculty Adviser for the Student Habitat group and Sam and Sharon Apparicio, owners of the Habitat house the students built.

JAYNE FEATHERS, chair of the Backpack Program, drew our attention to lunch bags that the students decorated expressing their thanks for the food. She presented lists of food, the costs, and the coupon for milk at Kroger (Payless) Stores. Everything is presented in English and Spanish since many of the recipients are Hispanic. This project will distribute ten tons of food this year.

TOM reminded us that this year's Gus Macker Tournment will be September 12/13. He's happy to receive phone calls offering to help.
