PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT ELECT CHRISTA KECK introduced VICTOR LECHTENBERG, Interim Vice President for Government Relations, who talked to us about "Indiana Innovation Alliance". This is a partnership between Purdue and IU to advance Biosciences. Due to a significant shift in federal funding of science toward larger multi-disciplinary projects and a requirement of matching funds from the institution, the state will attract more grants with both universities working together. This Alliance is open to other institutions and universities as well. The need to bring people together has been well received by legislators, who will be asked to fund the Alliance, resulting in important economic growth opportunities.
