CLUB CONCERNS:
PRESIDENT ROB asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, ROY WHISTLER, and RAY KAVANAUGH.
VOCATIONAL FOCUS:

TOM FREY, son of HARLEY FREY, says he has no musical talent. The talent skipped a generation residing in TOM'S son, who is a professional musician. TOM began a career sweeping floors at University Bookstore. Now he owns it. A laugh rippled through the room when he told us it's a business where the customers hate what they have to buy and the store has no control over what it stocks. TOM'S enthusiasm for Rotary was sparked the day he came to a meeting and discovered that Rotary would build a Habitat House. That project led to his personal involvement in helping a community in Haiti. By committing himself to Rotary and Habitat for Humanity, TOM has found a wonderful way to fulfill our motto, "Service Above Self."

PROGRAM:

RICHARD BARTHOLOMEW, President of the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation, presided over the 35th Annual meeting of the not-for-profit corporation. All members of our club are members of the Foundation. He introduced the original members and the current board members. Since we have so many new Club members, he read the mission of the Foundation and explained that the policy is to support local projects. RICHARD reviewed the history, noting that in 35 years over $750,000 has been spent on local projects. What about future plans? A "Bequest Society" where members can leave the Foundation money or securities after death and receive recognition for it now is the newest venture. Next week members will be asked to name the society. If you need more information about this newest way of supporting the work of our Club and Foundation, please contact RICHARD.
