CLUB CONCERNS:

PRESIDENT ROB asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, ROY WHISTLER, and RAY KAVANAUGH. It was great to see DON GENTRY back with us today.

EULOGY:

DAN TEDER presented an informative and very moving eulogy for his father, LAWRENCE TEDER, who passed away on August 27th. The complete eulogy has been placed on the Club's web page.

AMBASSADORIAL SCHOLAR:

TERRY WEST introduced outbound Ambassadorial Scholar, Laura Ertmer. She was a recipient of the Thomas F Moran Scholarship about eight years ago. Since then she has studied and volunteered in Lima, Peru, has studied at Oxford University, and hopes to pursue helping young people in South Africa find creativity through the Ambassadorial Scholar program.

PROGRAM:

President ROB introduced District Governor TOM FISHER, and the logo for RI President DONG KUM LEE'S theme, Make Dreams Real. Health, Hunger, Water and Literacy continue as problems to address with special focus on child mortality. Here are expectations DG TOM presented for his year in the office:

Membership - Increase each club by 10% and add two clubs per district

Public Image/Exposure - Watch for Rotary ads on Comcast Cable

Vocational Service - The emphasis will be on Business Ethics

Each club needs to have at least one Community Service and International Project

All clubs will be asked to donate $1,000 toward the Gates Foundation Matching

Grant to eradicate Polio

Every Rotarian Every Year $100 and support for Riley Hospital is expected

GSE - Team leaders and members can apply now to go to District 9210 in May. That includes Malawi and Zambia. Zimbabwe is included in that district, but Rotary prohibits travel to that country at this time.

The President's Citation and the Governor's Citation should be within our reach.

The district Conference is the first weekend in May, 2009 at Sheraton at Keystone at the Crossing.

LEW RUNNELS introduced Katherine Whittemore and Matthew Callahan from Jefferson High School. Each received a certificate and a mug with the Four Way Test to commemorate meeting with us today.
