  • BARB REIF has called a meeting of the Membership Involvement Committee next Tuesday immediately after the club meeting.

  • SUSAN HYCHKA, chair of the Membership Recruitment Committee, says there will be a call-out after next Tuesday's club meeting for anyone interested in participating in this committee.

  • JACK KELLEY needs two more host families for the Open World program, which brings Russian law enforcement officials to this country to see how our system works. The group will be here from Tuesday, October 14 to Saturday, October 18. If you can help, please contact JACK this week.

  • TOM MORAN reminded us that there only two weeks remain until the Gus Macker Tournament! Sign up to help with registration Saturday morning. Also, more team scholarships are needed. Several local teams are forming from the social service centers. They can afford only half of the fee. Please write your check for $116 to the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation.

  • JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER needs volunteers to mentor Rotaract members. Please contact her if you can help.

  • LETA KELLEY invites us to help pack backpacks every Thursday. It only takes about 45 minutes, is fun and provides make-up credit!

  • JAYNE FEATHERS reminds us that people need to have security checks to work at Miami School. The forms are available from at the back table with instructions on how they need to be submitted. There is no fee.

  • CYNTHIA HARDING, chair of the Youth Committee, asked for members interested in mentoring a Rotaract student to contact her. This is a wonderful way to connect with a Purdue Student who shares our motto of "Service Above Self"!

  • MIKE PIGGOTT announced DeTrash the Wabash on Friday, September 19th at 4:00. He put a sign up sheet on the bulletin board for those interested in forming a Rotary Team.

JANE'S CORNER:
Board Report:
  • The University Plaza Contract for 2009 was approved and signed. The price of lunch will be $10.00 starting in January.

  • Club archives are now stored in the basement of Keystone Architecture

  • Our club has no affiliation with "Blessings in a Backpack". Please refrain from using that name when talking about our Backpack Project.

  • The Gus Macker committee was asked to negotiate another contract with Gus Macker.

Thanks to ROB GALBRAITH for providing space for Rotary stuff in the basement of his downtown office. Thanks to TOM MORAN for providing the trailer and dolly and helping cart boxes and alter a shelf unit. Thanks to ROB'S strong young assistants, who provided the muscle to move all of our STUFF!
