CLUB CONCERNS:
PAST PRESIDENT JOHN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, ROY WHISTLER, RAY KAVANAUGH, REX KEPLER and LAWRENCE TEDER.
EULOGY FOR RALPH MORRIS:

FRITZ COHEN presented a very moving eulogy for RALPH MORRIS, who was a Rotarian from 1954 until his death late last month. He had a vigorous sense of humor accompanied by an enormous devotion to his family who presented him with his most treasured award, Lifetime Achievement Award. We were pleased and honored to have Ralph's daughter, Kathy Busch, and her husband, fellow Rotarian, TOM BUSCH, with us for Fritz' presentation. Click here to read the entire Eulogy.

PROGRAM:

JEANNE NORBERG introduced Chris Hilgendorf from WLFI TV 18 who talked to us about "The Upcoming Switch to Digital Television (DTV)." He explained that Congress mandated the switch on February 17, 2009 as part of a worldwide transition. Digital TV is more efficient transmission, producing better pictures and sound. If you receive a signal by antenna to your old TV, on February 17th the picture will not appear. If you have cable or satellite service, no preparation is needed. Here are the three steps if you have an antenna and older TV: 1. Obtain a $40 coupon from the Federal Government to purchase a $50 converter box. The limit is two coupons per family. 2. Buy a new TV. 3. Pay a service to provide the digital service: cable or satellite. Several good questions were asked, making this a most informative program.
