    ANNOUNCEMENTS:
    • PDG JIM GRAHAM thanked our club and Past President JOHN SANDERSON for new giving heights for the Rotary Foundation. He indicated that membership in our District has gone from declining, to growing, and we may lead the Zone in membership growth. PDG Graham reminded us that our own BILL HATFIELD began the child surgery program and as of this day our 100th child is in Indianapolis awaiting surgery. Josias is from Senegal.

PDG GRAHAM also told of his visit with Dr. France Cordova who has appointed Mr. Chris Foster to coordinate an effort for more of Purdue's 5,000 students having the opportunity to visit in American homes. Rotary will have the opportunity to assist in this program.

    • JAYNE FEATHERS thanked Jack Kelley and Kitchen Art for donating shelving units for Backpacks. ALSO, there is an important meeting Wednesday, July 23, 5:15 p.m. for the Backpack Committee at Miami Elementary, 2401 Beck Lane. Volunteers are still welcomed.

    • FRITZ COHEN invited us to volunteer for the next Shots Not Spots on Wednesday, August 6th. Still looking for 2 alternates. Sign up Sheet is on the Bulletin Board or contact FRITZ.

    • TOM FREY announced the upcoming outbound GSE Trip which leaves May 1, 2009 and returns, June 1, 2009. This is a 4-week, all expense paid, professional development trip to South East Africa (Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, D9210). For information contact Tom.

    • PRESIDENT ROB reminded us to wear our Rotary pins, and to remember the District Governor's upcoming visit on September 9.

    • News of DON FRANKLIN's departure (Ripples July 15) from Lafayette was apparently premature. DON has left the Lafayette Family YMCA, but he and his wife are remaining in Lafayette where he will be seeking other employment. Anyone with a lead should contact him at 471-1172 (H), 572-3670(C) or by e-mail at franks425@comcast.net.
