CLUB CONCERNS:

PRESIDENT JOHN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, ROY WHISTLER, and RAY KAVANAUGH.

PROGRAM:

PAUL ZIEMER, chair of the Scholarship/Citizenship Committee, welcomed all of the High School seniors and their parents, noting that this group of five outstanding students joined 722 young scholars our Club has honored over the years. He introduced Guidance Counselors/Nominators: Jana Kessler, Harrison High School; Joyce Grimble, Jefferson High School; and Sue MacOwan, West Lafayette High School. Principals Dennis Musial from Central Catholic, Larry Allen from West Lafayette; Principal's Representatives Barbara Lisk from Jefferson High School, and Annette Gillipo from McCutcheon High School received a welcoming round of applause. Finally Superintendents Ed Eiler with Lafayette School Corporation, Rocky Killion with West Lafayette School Corporation and Chris Daughtry representing Tippecanoe School Corporation were introduced.

ARVID OLSON presented Rebecca Gloyeske, daughter of Steven and Linda Gloyeske, who is a senior at Central Catholic High School. She is President of Interact Rotary Club, sponsored by the Lafayette Daybreak Rotary Club. Rebecca plans to continue her education at Indiana University in Early Elementary Education and Special Education.

LIZ SOLBERG introduced Josh Smith, son of David Smith and Rachel Day, who is a senior at Harrison High School. He is a musician, an athlete, a great student and sincere person. Josh is going to New York University to be a soccer promotion major.

PAUL ZIEMER presented Molly Scherer, daughter of Steven and Susan Scherer, who is a senior at Jefferson High School. In addition to playing soccer and participating in the Mayor's Youth Council, Molly shares her time, talent and heart. She will be a Boilermaker next year majoring in Agricultural Engineering with emphasis on hunger and environmental concerns.

ROB NOLL introduced Lauri Mitchell, daughter of Robert and Jo Mitchell, who is a National Merit Scholar at McCutcheon High School. Lauri, described as ethical, selfless and compassionate, has been a Katrina Recovery Volunteer and a mentor to children. Elementary Education will be her major at Purdue.

LETA KELLEY presented Brooke Ellis, daughter of Ron and Meg Ellis, from West Lafayette High School. Brook received the Excellence Award from the Morman Church and wants to make a difference in the world. She will attend Brigham Young University majoring in International Relations.

Each student received a $1,000 scholarship, a framed certificate and a travel mug with the Four-Way Test. PAUL challenged the students to exercise imagination in all they do and be willing to take risks.
