    • Rotarians, their families, and their guests are warmly invited to share supper at MCL Cafeteria in West Lafayette on Sunday, January 27 at 5:30 p.m.. Families would pay for their own meals from the cafeteria's selections that evening and gather in the West dining room which has been reserved for our use. There is no program, just the fellowship of friends. If you are interested in attending, please let LETA KELLEY or PAT COREY know so that we can be sure we have adequate space.

    • Join the fun and get to know fellow Rotarians at Euchre Parties: February 9 at JACK and LETA KELLEY'S home - March 29 at the VERPLANK'S home

    • Service Above Self nomination forms will be available next week. Be thinking of someone you would like to nominate.

    • SUZANN SHACKLETON asked anyone who is still in touch with a GSE team member or an Ambassadorial Scholar to pass along the contact information to her. Rotary International will invite them to a special event at the Convention this summer.

    • The District Conference is May 2, 3 and 4 at Holiday Inn North and Water Park in Indianapolis.

    • Hi Everyone,

Please be aware of the following e-mail scam:

"We are pleased to inform you that you have emerged a recipient of our Rotary International Cash Grant Programs. You were selected by our Electronic Random Selection System (ERSS) from an exclusive list of 800,000,000 individual and corporate bodies generated from our resource database." NO TICKETS WERE SOLD.

This kind of scam uses something called "spoofing" to send their messages out. Spoofing is when scammers and spammers create the illusion that emails are coming from legitimate sources. They find a domain name, such as www.rotary.org, and use it to send off thousands of spam or malicious e- mails. They use a tool to automatically generate e-mail addresses which simulate legitimate ones.

In this case, the "Rotary Foundation International" has been spoofed and made to appear it came from Rotary International. It did not.

The best we can do is to be aware, be smart, and be vigilant when it comes to spam, junk emails, and scams such as the one discussed above. Keep in mind the common adage: "If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true!" Please continue to disregard and delete these kinds of messages. If you have any questions, please call me.
      Thanks,
