    ANNOUNCEMENTS:
    • PRESIDENT JOHN announced that the Club Board voted to participate in the District Matching Grant project to provide water wells in Eldoret, Kenya. We will contribute $1,000. The Board also voted unanimously to continue the Gus Macker Tournament as our fund-raiser with the Purdue Habitat for Humanity Club.

    • JAN GRIFIN KOEHLER asked us to join the Rotarian crew filling Christmas boxes at the YWCA on Friday, December 14th at 9am. One hundred boxes need to be filled and the location most likely will be the 604 building across from the YW. This is always a fun service project.

    • JACK KELLEY reminded us that death and taxes are inevitable, but death is not repeatable! He introduced Patty O'Callahan who encouraged members to become tax preparers for Lafayette Urban Ministry's Free Tax Preparation. There is on-line training - you don't have to be an expert. Contact JACK or Patty with questions or to volunteer.

    • Share some holiday cheer at JANE TURNER'S home this Sunday, December 16th starting at 4:00. The address is 1304 Columbia. Parking is on the south side of the street or on 14th Street between Main and Columbia. This will also serve as the New Member Reception. Sponsors, New Members, Old Members, Spouses - Everybody come.

    PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBER:

Laura Nicolet and Tim Parsons, sponsored by JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER and Tim Ratliff, sponsored by AL and MARTHA CHISCON have been approved for membership by the Board of Directors. If there are no objections, they will be introduced soon.

    JANE'S CORNER:

There is always confusion this time of year about what contributions to the Lafayette Rotary Foundation count toward Golden Service Recognition and which projects are "pass through" activities and which are ours. Here are the policies adopted by The Lafayette Rotary Foundation this past March after months of discussion.

    Golden Service Recognition Policy

    • Golden Service Awards are awarded to recognize contributions to the Lafayette Rotary Foundation to support the award of grants funded by distributions from the corpus of the Foundation.

    • Contributions for which Golden Service Recognition is given are those contributions to the Foundation which enable the Foundation to grow its endowment funds, thereby enhancing its ability to award grants in the future.

    • Golden Service Awards will be presented to those making contributions at the following Levels of Giving:

Golden Service Contributors - $1,000 or more Golden Service Plus Contributors - $2,500 or more Diamond Contributors - $5,000 or more Double Diamond Contributors - $10,000 or more Platinum Contributors - $25,000 or more

Unless otherwise determined by the Board, Golden Service Award recognition shall not be given for monies received by the Foundation solely as a conduit for transfer:

    1. to other charitable organizations, such as The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International or the Salvation Army,
    2. in support of projects or programs not otherwise receiving grants from the Foundation.
    Conduit Project Policy

Lafayette Rotary Foundation may agree to receive and disburse funds for the Lafayette Rotary Club as a conduit for transfer:

    1. to other charitable organizations, such as The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International or the Salvation Army,
    2. in support of projects or programs not otherwise receiving grants from the Foundation.

To qualify as a "Conduit Project" the recipient of the funds disbursed by the Foundation must be a domestic organization that has qualified for exempt status under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
