PROGRAM:

JIM HANKS introduced Joe Seaman, CEO of The Lafayette West Lafayette Development Corporation. Joe presented an interesting program titled: "The Lafayette West Lafayette Development Corporation: Focus and Programs." Joe explained that three years ago six local organizations met to see how joining together might allow them all to accomplish their goals more effectively and efficiently. After working with a consultant for a year, the Lafayette West Lafayette Development Corporation was born. The organization is getting organized and has 25 board members from all the stakeholders. It is hoped that this organization will allow business and industry in the community to develop; will allow growing capital resources; and most importantly, advance workforce development, the biggest challenge over the next 20 years. Development of recreation and the arts, an important focus of Vision 20-20, is also a goal.

The vision of the organization is to help preserve and develop a safe, healthy, and accessible community that embraces its rich history, culture, and diversity. The organization strives to help the community be a true steward of our natural resources, striving to balance planned growth and economic vitality. The community's citizens, government, business, social and educational institutions all actively work together to achieve the total community.
