CLUB CONCERNS:
PRESIDENT JOHN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, JIM SMITH, ROY WHISTLER
THANK YOU:

PRESIDENT JOHN'S "Thank you for caring a whole awful lot" plaque went to HARLEY "GRIFF" GRIFFITH for his many years of service to our club as Secretary. Congratulations!

VOCATIONAL FOCUS:

GORDON KINGMA, born in Lafayette to parents of Dutch heritage, had polio as a child, making him ineligible for military service in World War II. His first job involved gathering news for the Journal & Courier, where he had the opportunity to know lots of interesting people. After graduation from Purdue, he took a position at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce in Indianapolis, where he met Burr Sweezy. That led to a position at the new Lafayette Nat ional Bank. When the bank was bought out, he found his way back to Chamber of Commerce work here in Lafayette. All the way along his career path he enjoyed working with interesting people.

PROGRAM:

RICHARD BARTHOLOMEW, President of the Lafayette Rotary Foundation, described the Foundations history and role in our club's service work. He reviewed the annual report, which was distributed to the members attending today's meeting. A special presentation of new rectangular badges with magnet clips was made to contributors at the Diamond level and above. VIRGIL ST. JOHN, BILL HEATH, ED HEMMER, BILL LOVELL, DAVE LUHMAN, KEITH SMITH, STEVE STUCKY, JIM BODENMILLER, JERRY COLE, KEN EWING, BOB GRIFFITHS, JIM HANKS, BETTY SUDDARTH, and LAWRENCE TEDER turned in their old round badges and are now proudly wearing their new recognition name badges. RICHARD reviewed the Financial Report noting that the Foundation has a total of $425,984 in total assets and has given out more than $750,000 in the last 33 years. He then reviewed ways members can contribute to the Foundation. His closing question was, "What do you want your legacy to be?" It's important to match your plan of action to what is important to you.
