CLUB CONCERNS:

PRESIDENT JOHN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK; LEO KLEMME who is recovering from cancer surgery and on chemo; NATE R. BARRETT and his family and friends on the loss of Donald F. Trout.

PROGRAM:

Morgan Burke thanked John Purdue members for their continued support and gave a progress report on the Big Ten Network and the Mackey Complex project before introducing Volleyball head coach, Dave Shondell.

Dave, in his fifth year at Purdue, said that the Big Ten is the best conference in America for volleyball. Indiana is a phenomenal state for the sport. He's proud of his student athletes who are tall and talented. There will be veteran team members starting this year. The team is happy with the state of the art floor and great facility at IAF gym. Dave invited all of us to support the tremendous effort of the volleyball team and attend the games.

Mark Hagen, standing in for Joe Tiller, did a fine job of sharing what is happening with the football team. Having worked hard during the off-season, there is lots of optimism for the coming season. The offense, led by Curtis Painter as quarterback, will be joined by seniors on the line. The defense team is committed to playing better than last year. He said the turf on the practice field and in the stadium is in good shape.

Morgan Burke thanked GARY SUISMAN, publisher of the Journal and Courier, for great coverage.
