CLUB CONCERNS:

PRESIDENT JOHN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK; and the family and friends of JANE TURNER whose father passed away last week.

VOCATIONAL FOCUS:

LETA KELLEY hails from the hills of North Carolina. She helped her father milk 25 - 30 cows twice a day until she went away to college. She received her degree in primary and elementary education, finishing at the University of Michigan where JACK KELLEY was studying. After moving to West Lafayette in 1968 she has been a substitute teacher in West Lafayette and a community volunteer, as well as a mother to four children. She strives for Service Above Self in all of her endeavors.

CONGRATULATIONS:

PRESIDENT JOHN presented a plaque to BILL FULLER which states:

JOHN COREY received a certificate and a new gold badge recognizing his Golden Service status with the Lafayette Rotary Foundation.

PROGRAM:

ROB GALBRAITH introduced Michelle Dexter, Exec, Director of Almost Home Humane Society. She started as a volunteer and part time employee before accepting her current position. The Shelter, founded in 1939, is a non-profit organization located on South 4th Street behind the Bluffs Apartments. They are funded by municipality contracts, donations and fund-raisers. Their outreach program includes 300 foster homes, a mobile adoption unit, education programs, low cost spay and neuter program, an injured animal program and breed rescue. They also have a volunteer program. It costs the organization $60 per dog for a five day stay; $63 per cat for a five day stay. Annual expenses are $850,000.
