CLUB CONCERNS:

PRESIDENT JAN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK, and the family and friends of Nancy and PHIL KLINGER due to the death of Nancy's father.
VOCATIONAL FOCUS:

GREG DONAT, born in Peru, Indiana, talked about his life with the circus. Peru, known as the Circus Capital of the World, offered him the opportunity to be a "pilot". He was the pilot of a wheelbarrow and shovel crew following the elephants. After mastering food preparations for the lions, he obtained employment at Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI. Riding an elephant to facilitate moving a wagon so stuck in the mud that the tractor needed help provided a great mental picture of GREG atop that gentle giant. Learning to work with circus animals was perfect preparation for his later life as a judge in our County Court system.
PROGRAM:

JOHN SANDERSON introduced Tom Templin; Professor of Health and Kinesiology, who told a story about his work with the game of golf. The PGA of America represents 28,000 club professionals and is not involved with the PGA tour events. Gold is a $62 Billion industry. With the help of Alice Dye, wife of and golf course designer with Pete Dye, the game of golf has grown by hiring professionals from local clubs to teach university courses in golf. Templin helped establish the program at other universities around the country and stressed the importance of Golf in Business Life. His tip for today: "Hit it hard and it will land somewhere."
