CLUB CONCERNS:

PRESIDENT JAN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK and FAYE COLE.
VOCATIONAL FOCUS:

CHRIS JOHANNSEN, the son of German immigrant farmers, pleased his father by finding an interest in Soil Conservation. After receiving a degree in Agronomy, he became a fertilizer salesman in Nebraska and then in Indiana. The opportunity to attain more degrees from Purdue allowed him to be an agronomist in Missouri for 13 years. In 1985 he returned to Purdue to work with DAVE LANDGREBE and PHIL SWAIN at LARS.
PROGRAM:

JOHN SANDERSON introduced Greg Mattes and Dustin Armer, Purdue students who, in cooperation with Puerto Rican students, provided technical support to the town of Humatas, Puerto Rico, in an effort to provide the 758 people with clean water. After looking at input parameters and cost versus functionality issues, they presented three options and made two trips to the site. Now that the Puerto Rican students along with the locals have a plan, fund raising has begun to make the water system a reality.

PRESIDENT JAN'S THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy is to set our own conditions to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.
