PRESIDENT JAN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK and FAYE COLE who had surgery last week.

JOHN SANDERSON introduced Jeffrey Vitter, Frederick L. Hovde Dean of Science at Purdue University, who informed us that Purdue trains more IT (Information Technology) students than any other school in the U.S. Purdue's Department of Computing was the first in the U.S. (1962) enjoys its new Richard and Patricia Lawson Computer Science Building. IT is fundamental to commerce, transportation, medicine and most other fields. There is a 20 year lag between invention and impact on society. The big worry is that not enough students are going into this field to fill the need. After showing us some fast moving videos highlighting the exciting things going on in IT, he asked us to contact our representatives in Washington, D. C. to fund research, which is key to the American Competitiveness Initiative.
