PRESIDENT JAN asked us to keep the following in our thoughts and prayers: BOB BROCK; GENE COURTANEY, and BETTY DOVERSBERGER. It was great to see JACK KELLEY, AL CHISCON and JIM SMITH at lunch today!
BIRTHDAY TABLE: TIM LUZADER asked those present of the 23 members celebrating a birthday in November to stand and announced that so far this generous group has contributed $1,121.
PROGRAM:

GORDEN KINGMA introduced Jim Shook, grandson of the founder of The Shook Agency, who gave us the history of and a progress report on The Lafayette Union Railway Company. Organized in 1890 to build seven miles of standard gauge railroad from what is now The Other Pub north to Widewater (near Oscar Winski). It is a not for profit organization to promote jobs and economic development. After 116 years, four miles of track still exist - from Alcoa to Tate & Lyle North. Over the years land has been sold and new sites purchased to have shovel ready locations ready for industrial uses. Rotarians DANA SMITH and BOB GRIFFITHS serve on the current board of directors. It is felt that our community is ready to grow for another century with a good mix of manufacturing.
STUDENT GUESTS: TERRY WEST introduced Nahla Ahmed and James Wodicka from West Lafayette High School. Each received a travel mug with the four-way test to commemorate meeting with us.
