FEBRUARY PROGRAMS

February 4: Lieutenant Chris Weaver will speak about the Lafayette Citizens Police Academy. Accompanied by Captain Kevin Gibson.

February 11: Detective Jeffrey Rooze will speak about identity theft.

February 18: Jerry Bean, Tippecanoe County Prosecutor, will speak about the prosecutor's office and what they do.

CLUB CONCERNS

PRESIDENT DAVE BOUGH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; BEV STONE; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER, BOB BROCK, and the family and friends of SANDY GRABOWSKI who died Monday. AL CHISCON delivered a very moving and heart felt eulogy.

CONGRATULATIONS

BOB ADAMS and EARL PARK became Paul Harris Fellows today. JIM TURLEY presented them with their certificates, pins and medallions.

 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

In your rush to leave the meeting, please be careful about which coat you grab. Twice this month we have had Rotarians swapping coats late on Tuesday afternoons.

The Raffle for Eradicate Polio brought in $118.00 today. $59.00 goes to the Rotary International Eradicate Polio Fund, $29.00 went to the winning ticket number (TED WOLFE) and $29.00 was added to the kettle for the person who draws the Ace of Spades.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT THANK YOU

"The YWCA Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program gratefully acknowledges your help during the 2002 Christmas Season. Because of your caring we were able to assist 216 women and 237 children with Christmas. Our sincerest thanks, The YWCA DVIPP Rita Smeyak"

NEW DUES PAYMENT POLICY

The following policies will apply to the payment of dues by members of the Lafayette Rotary Club.

  • Dues will be billed every six months to cover the periods May through October, and November through April.
  • Dues bills will be mailed on the first weekday on or after April 1 and October 1.
  • Payments for dues are to arrive in the Lafayette Rotary Club mailbox, or be given to the Executive Secretary not later than November 1 or May 1.

If dues payment is not received by November 1 or May 1, the member will be proposed for removal from the Rotary membership roles at the Rotary Club Board meeting scheduled to be held the second Monday in November or second Monday in May, unless the member has contacted the Executive Secretary or the Treasurer and has explained the extenuating circumstances why they are unable to pay their dues by that time.

PROGRAM (January 21, 2003)

LEONA COHEN introduced Teresa Pasdach, director of Health Promotion Services at the YWCA. Teresa talked to us about the Six Dimensions of Wellness, which include Physical, Social, Spiritual, Emotional, Intellectual and Vocational. The YW is a co-educational facility, which surprised many Rotarians.

GUESTS: Cindy Svajgr, guest of BARB REIF; Madi Koehler, daughter of JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER; Jaewong Kim and his wife Eunhim Park, Ambassadorial Scholar from Korea and Friedrich Ellebrecht, Ambassadorial Scholar from Germany, guests of TERRY WEST; Kazumi Matsumoto, Ambassadorial Scholar from Japan and guest of RAY KAVANAUGH

STUDENT GUESTS: Justin Russell and Megin Hauser from Jefferson High School were our guests today. They received a certificate and a travel mug with the four-way test to commemorate their visit with us.
