PROGRAM (August 27, 2002)

August 27th Program - District Governor Hugh Baker will speak about this year's district Rotary programs. There will be a meeting at 10:30 for officers and Senior Directors to report to the group.

AUGUST 20th MEETING FUNCTIONS: Money Collectors - JIM HOBBS - 11:15 to 11:45a.m. and KIRK CLARK - 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Greeter - JOHN BURGNER; Invocation - FRED KUIPERS; and Music - BOB VERPLANK. 

SEPTEMBER PROGRAMS

Chair PHIL KLINGER presents the line-up for September meetings: 

  • September 3 - Dr. Jerry Israel, President of University of Indianapolis will speak on the topic "Private Colleges and the Future of Higher Education"
  • September 10 - Nancy Klinger, retired teacher at Klondike Elementary School will talk about "Polio Then and Now - A Survivor's Story"
  • September 17 - Dr. Blaine Brownell, President of Ball State University will talk about "Building Better Communities"
  • September 24 - Dr. Charles Stewart, Professor in the Department of Communications, Purdue University, we will speak on the subject "The Use of Humor in Public Speaking"

CLUB CONCERNS

PRESIDENT DAVE BOUGH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; BEV STONE; HARLAND WHITE; and Jay Wiley, son of JAY WILEY; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER. 

PROGRAM (August 20, 2002)

MORGAN BURKE announced that the football stadium will be ready for the first game, August 31st. He then introduced Jeff Hulsmeyer, coach of Purdue's award winning (President's Cup for highest grade point average) volleyball team. He predicted great improvement in results for his young team starting at their opening tournament September 6/7. The team is looking forward to moving up after laying a good foundation.

MORGAN BURKE briefly highlighted other sport's events before introducing Purdue's football coach, Joe Tiller. The coach reviewed players and positions, reported that the team is generally healthy and said he is anxious to see what sort of team we have. Kick-off is at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday August 31st. Wear gold shirts.
