ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Executive Committee and Board of Directors have decided to reorganize the Lafayette Rotary Club Executive Secretary Position.  They are dividing the work into three new positions: Executive Secretary, Membership Secretary, and Operations Secretary.  This would divide up the 128 specific responsibilities that were taken care of by GRIFF among three people reducing the workload on any one person and making it more manageable for each of these people.  The duties for each of these positions have been outlined and are available through DAVE BOUGH.

SMALL GROUP DINNER - the next Small Group Dinner will be at CHRIS & Jackie FUNK's home on Wednesday, August 7th, at 6:00 p.m.  Cost is $8.00 per person and reservations need to be made with MARTHA CHISCON or JANE TURNER.  Maximum number is 14 people.

SHOT NOT SPOTS - FRITZ COHEN reported that he has 16 volunteers signed up for the Wednesday, August 7th "Shot Not Spots" Immunization Drive program at the Fairgrounds and is looking for two more volunteers in the 4 to 6 PM slot which included taking down tables and chairs.

JAN GRIFFIN-KOEHLER introduced Kathy Stewart, Program Manager, Junior Achievement of Greater Lafayette who spoke on "Junior Achievement Programs Are Growing". Kathy will start full time at the JA office on August 1st after 7 years working part time to help serve the 5000 student that go through the JA program. They take their program into the classroom with business volunteers explaining the free enterprise system to student after having training through JA. They use interactive programs like puzzles with missing pieces that represent Japan exporting cameras and televisions and Tanzania importing cameras and televisions. One of the 3rd grade projects was building cardboard buildings to learn about carpentry and city planning. It's a great program that works because of volunteers help share their experience with students in our area.
