Randall G. Shepard, Chief Justice, Indiana Supreme Court, will be the speaker. Chief Justice Shepard will be introduced by BILL HATFIELD, Past President (1993-1994) and Past District Governor (1998-1999).

PRESIDENT ELECT DAVID BOUGH, substituting for PRESIDENT OSCAR HOPKINS, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: BEVERLY HOPKINS; JOHN AND EUDORA MC KEE; REX KEPLER (HARLEY FREY talked with REX's spouse, PAT, this a.m.; PAT indicated to HARLEY that REX's kidney was cancerous and was removed during a long surgery, also removed other cancerous material(s); REX was sitting up when PAT arrived at St. Elizabeth Medical Center this a.m.); ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; BEV STONE; HARLAND WHITE; and Jay Wiley, son of JAY WILEY.

PROGRAM (March 5, 2002)

PRESIDENT ELECT DAVE introduced CHRISTA KECK, who in turn introduced Prof. David L. Sigman, Head and Professor of Visual and Performing Arts, Purdue, who made an interesting presentation regarding: 1) The various departments of Visual and Performing Arts; and 2) With the aid of charts described in detail the various areas of the new Visual and Performing Arts Building now under construction with a potential moving in date of May 2003. Prof. Sigma closed with a Q & A session and requested that in lieu of a Rotary wheel, a contribution be made to the Lafayette Foundation.

JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL GUESTS: Ericia Simmerman and Adam Rudolph, hosted by BARB DOSTER. PRESIDENT ELECT DAVE presented certificates of recognition, brochures about Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships, and a Rotary Travel Mug (4-Way Test on it) to Ericia and Adam.

NEW MEMBER: JOHN R. WALLING (JOHN) with classification HEALTHCARE-ALLIED SERVICES � President and CE0, North Central Health was introduced by his proposer, JIM HANKS. JOHN was a Rotarian approximately 15 years ago, but the merger of Home Hospital and St. Elizabeth Medical Center kept him too busy to attend; JIM and TOM PEARSON, Chair of the Board, North Central Health, have been after him to rejoin and he now has decided to do that. JOHN and his spouse of 32 years, JOYCE, reside at 670 Cardinal Drive, Lafayette 47909- telephone 538-2799, and are the parents of two children, a daughter in Denver, CO, and a son at Ball State University. GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE (GSE) OPPORTUNITY: GSE Team from District 920 (LESOTHO and SOUTH AFRICA scheduled to arrive here on Sunday, April 22, 2002 and leave for French Lick (District Conference) on Monday, April 26, 2002. The GSE Team members and vocations are as follows: Mike Frudd, Co Team leader (male), retired professional accountant, married and has two adult daughters; Menzintando Maboyi, the other CoTeam leader, is male, single; and a lawyer; Chiara Chiumya (female, single, one child age 4, and a bank inspector); Ingrid Landman (female, single and medicine); Tawery Gladys Moyana (female, single and a Lawyer). ANNOUNCEMENTS

SMALL GROUP DINNER on Thursday, March 14th, at JIM and MARINA FUNK's condo; 7:00 p.m. drinks and tidbits; maximum of 18. Then walk to Cafe Moka for family-style dinner. ANNUAL DINNER COMMITTEE MEETINGS: BETTY SUDDARTH, Vice President and Chair, Annual Dinner Committee has scheduled meetings for this Committee for the following Tuesdays: March 19th, April 16th, and April 30th. Meetings will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Tailgate Lounge, University Inn. DISTRICT 6560 CONFERENCE, April 26, 27, and 28, 2002 at French Lick, IN. The Conference will be with District 6580 (Southern third of the State). Registration forms and other information will be available at the Secretary's table. For the past several years the Conference has been held in the District, but this year it will be at French Lick. Overnight rooms at the French Lick Hotel are $89.00 and a block of rooms will be held for the Conference until March 15th, 2002.

LAFAYETTE ROTARY CLUB "SERVICE ABOVE SELF" VOCATIONAL SERVICE AWARD NOMINATION FORMS may be obtained from ELSA JANLE, Member "Vocational Service Award Committee"; and available from other Committee members (STAN MITHOEFER, Chair; ELSA JANLE; JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER; TOM SCHMIDT; and JENNIFER SHANAHAN; or at Secretary's table).

VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: TOM SCHMIDT, Chair, Vocational Scholarships Committee, has forwarded letters and four copies of the Vocational Scholarship application form to BETTY DOVERSBERGER, Chancellor, Ivy Tech State College, and GREG REGER, Executive Director, Indiana Business College stating, "The Lafayette Rotary Club, through their continuing generosity to students in our community, is offering scholarships for vocational students. Four scholarships of $400.00 each will be awarded on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the noon meeting of the Club." These scholarships will be given to students from Ivy Tech State College and Indiana Business College. An application copy, if desired, may be acquired from either TOM or GRIFF.

MARCH BIRTHDAY TABLE: DALE MC HENRY, Chair, March Birthday Table, reported that Rotarians with birthdays in March contributed approximately $1,500.00 to the Lafayette and International Foundations.
