Two important items to remember:

  1. No club meetings on Tuesday, December 25, 2001 and Tuesday, January 1, 2002; and
  2. Luncheon cost goes from $7.50 to $7.75 effective with the Tuesday, January 22, 2002 club meeting.

UPCOMING PROGRAM (January 8, 2002)

Judith A. Myers-Walls, Associate Professor of Child Development and Family Studies, Purdue, "How to Talk to Children About Terrorism." BILL HATFIELD, Program Coordinator for January 2002, will introduce Prof. Myers-Walls. Prof. Myers-Walls joined the staff at Purdue in 1979 and has B. A. degree (1974) from Manchester, and M.S. (1977) and Ph.D. (1979) degrees from Purdue.

BILL HATFIELD is the program coordinator for January 2002. The programs are as follows:

  1. Tuesday, January 8, 2002: See Above;
  2. Tuesday, January 15, 2002: Rotarian DAVID HEATH, "State of the City (Lafayette)";
  3. Tuesday, January 22, 2002: Debra Elsner, Executive Director, American Red Cross � Tippecanoe County Chapter; and
  4. Tuesday, January 29, 2002: Rotarian SONYA MARGERUM, " State of the City (West Lafayette)".

PRESIDENT OSCAR HOPKINS requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: DOUG BRANIGIN; JOHN AND EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; BEV STONE; and HARLAND WHITE.

WELCOME NEW MEMBER

MARIELLEN NEUDECK (MARIELLEN) with classification COMMUNITY SERVICE, proposed by JIM HANKS. MARIELLEN and her spouse, GEROLD, are the parents of two sons (both West Lafayette High School and Purdue University graduates) and reside at 612 Crestview Place, West Lafayette �telephone 463-2936. MARIELLEN has been very active in Greater Lafayette community activities, i.e., for many years with St. Elizabeth Medical Center and currently a board member of Lafayette Savings Bank.

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING REPORT:

Jerry McCarthy reported that the kettles' collection amounted to $3,554.00.

David Landgrebe, Treasurer, Lafayette Rotary Foundation, Inc. reported on December 12th:

  1. Check from Foundation from 36 members to the Salvation Army - $2,895.00;
  2. Check from one member made payable to the Salvation Army - $100.00;
  3. Amount sent previously, December 5th - eight contributors - $1,462.50
  4. Total to date - $4,457.50.

PROGRAM (December 18, 2001)

PRESIDENT OSCAR introduced WENDELL SEABORNE, who in turn introduced today's speaker, Larry Thomas, Vice Chairman, Cinergy PSI, who made a most interesting presentation about six issues facing Cinergy PSI: a) Customer Choice; b) Adequate Electric Supply; c) Customer Rates/Costs; d) PSI Energy Community Commitment; e) Customer Service Requirements; and f) Customer Service. Mr. Thomas closed with a Q & A session.

MAKEUPS: TOM SCHMIDT, Flora; and DOUG TAYLOR, Daybreak.
