UPCOMING PROGRAM (August 21, 2001)

In order to preserve the tradition of having Purdue coaches available as guest speakers for Greater Lafayette Area service club luncheons and dinners, and also in an attempt to help the coaches with their hectic schedules; Jay Cooperider, Athletic Relations Director, this year requested the area service clubs to consolidate their plans for Tuesday, August 21, 2001, and Thursday, October 18, 2001. Therefore, next week, Tuesday, August 21st , our Club will host the first of these two all-service club luncheons. Speakers will be Joe Tiller, fifth-year Head Coach, Purdue Football Team, and Jeff Hulsmeyer, third-year Head Coach, Purdue Women's Volleyball Team. Coaches Tiller and Hulsmeyer will be introduced by Rotarian MORGAN BURKE, Director, Intercollegiate Athletics, or Jay Cooperider.

MEETING FUNCTIONS: Money Collectors - KIRK CLARK, 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., and CHRISTY SMITH, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Greeter - SANDY ALLENDE; Invocation - JIM HANKS; Music - GREG NAPIER; and Vocational Student Guest from Indiana Business College.

CLUB CONCERNS

Prior to the invocation today, President OSCAR HOPKINS (President OSCAR), requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: BOB FIELDS; BOB HIATT; JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; Dirk Reif, son of BARB; CAROL REW, spouse of CARL; FAE SPURLOCK; and BEV STONE.

TWO CORRECTIONS TO LAST WEEKS "Ripples":

  • The KEN EWING Small Group Dinner date in last week's "Ripples" was confusing, the Dinner is Thursday, September 6th. MARTHA CHISCON and JANE TURNER, Co-Chairs, have reservations for 13; still space for five additional individuals.
  • DALE MC HENRY has resigned as Club Treasurer, effective June 30, 2002, not June 30, 2001; therefore, still plenty of time for someone to volunteer to become Club Treasurer and have time to train with DALE.

CORRESPONDENCE from HANS NAUMANN: Have not yet had time to look up the local Rotary chapter but in the meantime, for the record, here's my new address, telephone number, and e-mail: 9517 East Sunridge Drive, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248-5915 telephone (480) 895-8194; and e-mail .
