MHY Pavilion Painting Project Rich-Mar Rotarians, led by Community Service Chairman Joe Mancuso and President Dan Goss joined together at MHY Family Sevices on Saturday, September 11 to paint the PNC Learning Center Pavillion on the MHY Campus. It could have easily been a one week project, painting all of those slats in the railings, but as the Amish say, "Many hands make light work" so we finished it in about 3.5 hours. As always when we work on the MHY Campus, we were amply nourished with donuts, coffee, pizza, cookies and bottles of water. Great day! Great fellowship! Great Service! |

Jim Roddey Is Now on the Radio.jpg) After many months of bad news about COVID, border crisis, forest fires and drought, capital riots, social unrest and Afghanistan, Jim Roddey decided we needed some good news. Jim approached Highmark about the idea of sponsoring a radio show about heroes. They agreed, and Highmark and AHN are now presenting "Heroes," a 30 minute radio show. Jim is interviewing veterans, first responders, doctors, nurses, teachers and community volunteers. The show is carried by six stations and covers Allegheny, Butler and Beaver counties. The broadcasts are on saturday mornings, and repeated on Sunday mornings. (On September 11 and 12 the show was dedicated to the memory of the passengers of Flight 93, which crashed in Somerset County on September 11, 2001.) Jim has also asked our Rotary District Governor to provide names of outstanding Rotarian volunteers to be interviewed. If you have any suggestions, please contact Jim. Jim Roddey was the first elected Allegheny County Executive. He graduated from Texas Christian University, was a Captain in the US Marine Corps. Jim and Elin, his wife of 68 years, came to Pittsburgh in 1978 from Atlanta where Jim was President of Turner Communications. He is an Honorary Rotary member of the RichMar Rotary Club, has received four Paul Harris Awards and has spoken to more than 30 Rotary Clubs in six US states and Mexico. Jim and Elin live in Valencia, PA and have two children, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren (three boys who are triplets). (Photo by Jonas (c) 1996 - All Rights Reserved) |
